5 Year Milestone & 1st Fundraiser

As we've crossed the threshold of saving our clients over $1,000,000 compared to predatory flex loans, we also have crossed the 5th anniversary of our first loan.

TAKE A BITE OUT OF PREDATORY LENDING

On September 30th at 6pm we will hold our first fundraiser at the Edgeworth Inn in the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly! Join us to support our work combating predatory lending and to celebrate the food and partners of the South Cumberland Plateau!

We are looking for sponsors and attendees -- discounts to sponsors that bring a dish -- as well as nonprofits, churches, schools, or other municipal/governmental offices that want to bring a dish and receive tickets at no cost to themselves.

$500 prizes each will be awarded to the nonprofits submitting the best entrΓ©e, side, and dessert. If the winners are not nonprofits, BetterFi will make dedicated $500 donations to the nonprofits of their choice. Click below to sign up or for more information.

We are still seeking an AmeriCorps volunteer to serve on the South Cumberland Plateau! For more info visit betterfi.co/join-our-team or email us at hello@betterfi.co.

UNDERWRITING FOR RACIAL JUSTICE

In bigger news, BetterFi is excited to announce our inclusion among 20 lenders across the United States in Beneficial State Foundation's Lender Pilot Program to Address Racial Discrimination in Underwriting -- inclusion that could not come at a better time as we expand services beyond the South Cumberland Plateau.

The two-year program will involve BetterFi working alongside Beneficial State Foundation and the other 19 lenders to develop, share, and implement tools, practices, and resources designed to increase equitable access to fair loans for people of color. We look forward not just to improving our underwriting processes, but to evaluating our existing practices and loans and to developing mechanisms to ensure that BetterFi's processes are not discriminatory as we grow.

We are honored and excited to begin this journey as part of a cohort of amazing lenders.

& WELCOME, ASHLEY!

We'd also like to introduce Ashley, our Hamilton County Loan Processing Coordinator -- she is doing great already!

If you know someone who might be interested in our services in or near Chattanooga, have them call or arrange to meet with Ashley as she does her rotations with our partner sites.

You can forward them to www.betterfi.co/hamilton to schedule an appointment online or to get her contact information.

As always, thank you for your support and partnership -- we have a lot of work to do!
